5th January 2021, RETURN TO SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENT
Hello,
Following the recent government announcement regarding how schools should operate
during this lockdown period, please find below the plan for The Alternative School Group.
Monday 4th, 5th & 6th January: All staff Inset Days, on campus – Planning for testing on campus, pupil induction, curriculum and exam planning/assessment for all pupils returning safely to school.
Thursday 7th Jan: Primary pupils, Secondary pupils CLA – Return on campus
Friday 8th Jan: As above
Monday 11th Jan: ALL PUPILS Return to campus
All of our pupils attending The Alternative School, whether it be at Barnoldswick, Accrington, Burnley or Blackpool fall into one of the ‘vulnerable’ categories in some way and this is why we will continue to offer face to face education, plus additional activities and 1:1 sessions.
The TAS team have worked incredibly hard to ensure that ALL pupils can return to school
safely, with class sizes significantly reduced, classrooms set up for social distancing, Covid
testing within school and the use of thermometers to test temperature on arrival along with hand gel all around the school and COMPULSORY face masks/visors in all areas of school.
We will be continuing with our planned curriculum, working towards Maths, English, Science qualifications, along with a focus on BTEC Sport and BTEC PSD for this term. Our aim is to ensure that Covid does not negatively impact on the results or positive transition for any of our pupils. We are aiming for high quality teaching plus homework in addition to ensure we are on track.
Attendance will be recorded and monitored closely, along with safeguarding as per our
policy and we will continue to update schools and agencies at the end of every week with
both progress and attendance. Safeguarding concerns will of course will be updated to the
relevant people immediately and we will continue to hold our review meetings at the end of the half term on the 11th February 2021.
