St James Alternative School, originally based in The New Era Centre, has been in situ since 2009 and now resides in its own building in Burnley.
This school is designed to accommodate pupils from KS1 – KS4, supporting Primary & Secondary pupils, with a maximum of 45 pupils and is for those that require short term intervention, respite or support until a positive transition back into mainstream or onto special school, with the support of an EHC plan.
This school has a sports focus and pupils are encouraged to take up Thai boxing, horse-riding, football, running and partake in regular sports competitions and sports days. The school also has a fantastic forest school programme and embraces outdoor education. The staff at this school also offer an outreach service, a specialist teacher service and support with applying for an EHC plan.
